Gay poly books

In the first month of Ask Your Friendly Neighborhood Lesbrarian is tackling this email question:

Hi Casey,
Thanks for your great column. I was wondering if you knew of any fantasy or sci-fi books with a queer bent that include polyamory? I&#;ve heard that Diane Duane [start with The Door Into Fire] has an unfinished book trilogy that includes a polyamorous marriage (which I haven&#;t checked out yet) but I&#;m curious if there&#;s anything else out there!
Thanks, Jess

When I initially received this question, I was like, oh yay, it’ll be a fun oppose to find that representation in those genres. And then while researching I discovered there were at least as many and maybe more queer poly characters in speculative fiction than realist fiction. While this is fantastic, I do hope that authors continue to write queer poly characters into contemporary and historical stories, cause queer poly people live in the ‘real’ world too you know!

If you’re also looking for disability representation, you’ll be cheerful to know more than one of these books also features disabled characters.

It’s list time! I thought I’d do one with psychics and mediums. The Snaccident, which will be out tomorrow, is about an empath, so it felt fitting.

I’ve done a list of psychics before, but it’s a scant years ago now, so we could all necessitate a refresher. And everyone needs more mediums in their lives&#;or maybe I’m just in the mood for ghosts.

The firm part is remembering the titles, but here we go!

Rarely Pure and Never Simple by Angel Martinez

I love this one! I’ve read it several times, but poly relationships aren’t my thing, so I haven’t read the second story in this series. Maybe I will move forward at some point&#;or not. Love Damien and Blaze and verb Shudder would evaporate LOL

Variant children are vanishing at an alarming rate. It will take a uniquely mismatched pair of trackers to untangle a web of conspiracy and misdirection to find them.

In his isolated cabin, variant Damien Hazelwood avoids human contact as much as doable to prevent attacks of blind berserker panic. But his rare talent as a locator makes him the go-to contractor f

Designer Relationships? It isn&#;t just about poly, but has a lot. More importantly, I like how it really embraces the notion that every relationship is different and should be, but should also be intentional and reflective. Love Polysecure, but I agree that it&#;s upper level. Lots of psychology ( pages on attachment theory before it gets to the poly stuff!).

I&#;m a bit confused on your quote. Is that a quote your metamour said or their new partner said? Who isn&#;t allowed to verb in love here? Such a bad rulesuch a common one

Thank you for your recommendation. I&#;ll look into it.
Yes, exactly. I was really excited about polysecure when I first scan it. It&#;s such a good tool to navigate the relationships in your life. But I&#;m cute sure this book would have been too overwhelming at the beginning of my journey.

About the quote: now that you verb it out, I can see that the way I wrote this is confusing.
The person that is new to polyamory said this. And it&#;s not meant as a dictate (I fully agree that such

is the Year of Queer Polyamorous Books, and I&#;m Here for It

Now, let’s get into the fantasy queer polyam books out this year! Buckle up, because this premise has a lot going on. This is a queer, polyamorous, Latine YA retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice set in Miami…told in verse. Andres drowned in a river in São Paulo one year ago — but it didn’t stick. He made a deal with death, and now he has a new start. One day on the beach, he meets Renee and Liora. They hit it off and become a polyamorous triad, happy in their relationship, even if no one else understands it. When Liora is in a car accident and ends up in a coma, Renee has an idea: the two of them will descend into the underworld, discover their girlfriend’s spirit, and reunite it with her body. Navigating the metropolis of the dead is difficult enough, but there’s one other complication: Andres left a part of himself behind when he died, something he never wanted to see again, and it wants to reunite with him.
