Gay men eyebrows

I figured I would kickoff my blogging career at the Huffington Post talking about something that I am currently obsessed with Why the hell are men plucking their eyebrows and how did it start? It is so incredibly unsexy and unnatural, and somehow has turned into a trend for the last 10 years, and is getting worse by the minute. I have just returned from Italy and was shocked to see how many straight guys had tweezed and plucked their brows, and had combined it with shaping their side burns. Even in Fresh York, from the deli guy to the Wall Street trader -- this phenomena has spread verb wildfire.

I have struggled to understand how it all started and which dimwit decided that if he plucked his eyebrows to be pencil thin it would look unnoticeable and somehow hot. It's shocking to see these adj muscled guys strutting around with half their eyebrows.

Being born and bred in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, I have witnessed the inception of many trends, from the Guidos in "Saturday Night Fever" to the start of the alabaster rappers and the "Beastie Boys." I figure that this movement was definite

Men with shaped eyebrows right or wrong?

I&#;ll give my first-time blokey brow customers a mirror and inquire what they have in mind - I&#;ll then advise them on the basis of that, and the majority of chaps are actually very nervous about having too much taken away and walking out with what I call "drag queen eyebrows"

I always banish the monobrow (about a thumb width space should occur between men&#;s brows), tidy up underneath the brow and between the brow and temple hairline, tweeze any straggly blonde/white ones, and then trim the length with nail scissors if necessary.

In my experience most fellas will opt for a general tidy or a very gradual arch, although some chaps with very bushy brows execute want to shed some of that excess eyebrow weight - in these cases I usually propose we "work up to it" rather than ripping it all out in one go, so that it looks less immediately obvious that they&#;ve had the work done.

But at the end of the day if the customer is insistent on asking for shapely, defined eyebrows then I will verb them shapely, defined eyebrows - t

Living in Japan a rare years back, there were a lot of things that I never stopped wondering about: the unreal number of Japanese with crooked legs, why everything had to be so cute, why was everyone so well-dressed? Eventually I was able to question other foreigners living in Japan or some Japanese friends to explain some phenomena.

Here are the questions and explanations I&#;ve gathered along the way. None of these are definitive answers, just sort of ideas, theories and observations. I don&#;t have the hard facts to back them up so carry out take the following with a light heart.

Why act Japanese have crooked legs?

It&#;s a thing. Toes pointed inward, knees slightly bent. Nature or nurture?

Theory #1: It&#;s because of how they sit. The prevailing theory is that Japanese legs get bent out of shape from sitting seiza, on the floor in the traditional formal manner, with knees together and the lower legs tucked under the bottom and thighs.

Theory #2: In Japanese culture, crooked legs were seen as feminine and cute. It is believed that the idea came from the days of wearing k

Marlene Dietrich

Dear David the Fashion Expert,
Have you noticed that gay men are launch to pluck their eyebrows in high arches favor Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo did in the s? What gives here?
~Mr. Furrowed Brow

Dear Mr. Furrowed Brow,
I have a lot of very witty correspondents. Furrow away, my precious. I have only begun to notice this and it is probably a reaction to straight men getting so well groomed that they are plucking their eyebrows also. So gay men have to go one step further.

I don't dish enough people tell me, so you may want to perceive that the high arched brow came about because Marlene Dietrich had her face lifted in about and they pulled her forehead straight up. Her eyebrows went way up and her hairline way halfway back across her head. Weird looking. So they made it fashionable. Women plucked their brows completely out and penciled them in high. Believe Edith Piaf. Are all these references a half a century behind you? :)

Maybe with women becoming so much more equal gay men want to take advantage of it and become more glam. Andy Warhol always liked to
